The changing environment of hospital services, health-care delivery and medical practice requires constant improvement of facilities and services.  It is because of this concern that the Morrill County foundation is approaching its friends, supporters, and all others for whom health-care and health-care costs are important and requesting their help in meeting these needs.  If Morrill County Community Hospital is to continue to serve our area well, it must have necessary funds to provide the required equipment and services.

Those who benefit from the hospital's services and programs are partners with the hospitals in providing health-care excellence which the community deserves and has come to expect.

Established in 1998, the Foundation receives and administers charitable gifts that support the health-care mission of Morrill County Community Hospital and its associated medical service providers.  The Foundation's mission and goals include:

        1.  Purchasing patient care equipment.

        2.  Enhancing patient related programs and services.

        3.  Upgrading facilities.

        4.  Building and endowment to assure there is, and always will be, a strong financial foundation supporting our health-care community.

Today's Gift is Tomorrow's Future

There are many ways to invest in the health of our community by making a gift to the Foundation.

bullet

Gifts of Cash  Cash is still the most popular way to make charitable gifts.  Your gift can be made in a single contribution or as a pledge (either monthly or annually).  Also, your gift of cash to a qualified charity prior to December 31 could cost you much less at tax filing time.

bullet

Memorials  A personal and lasting way to honor a loved one or friend.  A memorial gift may be made as a single contribution or established as a special memorial fund to which many contributions may be made over time.

bullet

Tributes  A lasting way to honor a special event or achievement, such as, a birth, anniversary, or retirement.

bullet

Wills or Bequests  A fitting tribute to you and your generosity, the foundation can be remembered according to your wishes.

bullet

Gifts of property, bonds, stocks, or other assets  A gift of property or other assets can have significant long-lasting benefits for you and the Foundation.

Gifts of Securities

Giving appreciated stocks or bonds is a superb way to show support for Morrill County Community Hospital programs. With certain limitations, you can deduct the full fair market value of long-term appreciated securities; that is, securities you have owned for more than one year and that have increased in value. Thus you can give away appreciated property and usually avoid the tax on the gain.

 Gifts of Property

Tangible Personal Property:

This includes such items as works of art, antiques, books, gems and the like. You may give an item whether or not it has increased in value since you obtained it.  Perhaps the greatest tax benefits come, however, when the donated object is what the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) considers "long-term capital gain property." As mentioned in the section on securities, this means simply that the asset has appreciated in value and you have held it for more than a year.  Your income tax deduction will depend upon the nature of the gift and its correlation to our stated, tax-exempt mission.

Intangible Personal Property:

You may also make gifts of personal property that cannot be seen or touched. Such property is called "intangible" and it includes copyrights, securities, patents, contracts, promissory notes, royalties, trademarks and the like. Unlike tangible property, intangible personal property does not have to be scrutinized for income tax purposes, such as its relevance to our tax-exempt mission.

Real Estate:

Almost any type of real property; a personal residence, a farm, a vacation home, a commercial building or an undeveloped parcel of land can be the subject of a gift. Gifts of real estate can be made either outright or through one of the methods discussed later.

Gift of Residence or Farm with a Retained Right to Use the Property:

Because of special provisions in the tax laws, you can give us your personal residence or farm, yet continue to live there for the remainder of your life. Further, you can provide that your spouse may live there for his/her lifetime; or you may continue to live on the property for a set number of years. Either way, you will receive an immediate income tax deduction for the contribution.

Gift of Undivided Interest in Property:

You are allowed a charitable deduction for the value of an undivided portion of your entire interest in a property. This consists of a fraction or a percentage of each substantial right or interest in the property. The donated interest must extend over the entire term of your interest.
