Home Health Care is giving people skilled health care in their own home on a part time basis.
Referrals to Home Health services may be made by a physician, nurse, hospital staff, friends, or agencies within the community who have knowledge of healthcare need.
Home Health Criteria for Service
Private pay care is available for patients who have a stable or non-skilled need. Private care does not require a M.D. order. Home Health aides may assist with activities of daily living. Private pay nursing may need a standing order. An example of this would be filling a medication doser every week or for weekly baths.
What are the benefits of Home Health Care?
Registered Nurses provide professional health care to patients at home. Nurses deliver a full range of health care to the patient as directed by their physician. Examples of services offered by these professionals are: -- Physical assessment, evaluation and observation -- Wound care -- Administration of medication, including injections -- Parenteral and enternal feedings -- IV Chemotherapy -- IV Antibiotics -- Oxygen provision and instruction -- Catheterization/catheter management -- Monitoring of cardiovascular and cardiopulmonary status -- Home environment safety assessment -- Instruction on and information on diabetes, hypertension, heart attacks, and ostomy care -- Family instruction on patient care -- Post-partum visits including evaluation and instruction -- Laboratory specimens - (drawing blood, collecting urine specimens, cultures, and returning them to the lab) -- Nutritional instruction -- Refer to community resources as appropriate
Home care services by Home Health Aides offer various services to the patient in their own place of residence, to assist in personal care and activities of daily living. Examples of services offered by these professionals are: -- Personal care (i.e. bathing, grooming, nail/skin care, and assist with transfer) -- Support and comfort -- Assist with rehabilitation activities and exercises -- Assist with errands *Home Health Aides are trained and certified to give patient care. They are also under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Morrill County Home Health will complete necessary claim forms and bill the appropriate provider.
Medicare: This federal health program pays for Home Health services, agency provided medical supplies, and equipment if the patient meets the following requirements: -- The patient must be under a physician's care and homebound. -- The plan of care must be designed and periodically reviewed by the physician. -- The services must be intermittent, and the illness or condition must be of nature that it will respond favorably to medical treatment.
Private Health Insurance: Policy coverage varies. Check with your carrier. Generally private insurance coverage is limited to physician directed medical services, course therapy, and medical equipment.
Veterans Administration: Veterans with or without a service connected suitability may be eligible for Home Health coverage. Services must be authorized by a physician, and pre-authorized by the veterans office.

Private Pay: Home Health service can be paid by the patient or the patient's family.
