What is Home Health Care?

Home Health Care is giving people skilled health care in their own home on a part time basis.

How do I get this help?

Referrals to Home Health services may be made by a physician, nurse, hospital staff, friends, or agencies within the community who have knowledge of healthcare need.

Home Health Criteria for Service

  1. The patient has a functional limitation that makes them homebound.  (ex: no weight bearing, post-surgical limitations, open wound)

  2. The patient must have the need for a skilled service. Skilled nursing (IV fluids, open wound care) and/or physical, occupational, or speech therapy.

Private Pay Care

Private pay care is available for patients who have a stable or non-skilled need.  Private care does not require a M.D. order.  Home Health aides may assist with activities of daily living.  Private pay nursing may need a standing order.  An example of this would be filling a medication doser every week or for weekly baths.
